Something you weren't expecting...
Hey everyone, welcome back to the Amazing Blog of Florida!!
Today I want to take you along and talk about something that many of you all may not know existed. I want to bring you into a tiny part of my hometowns history. Callahan, Fl was established in 1911 by two local railroads collided. This gets us into what we are here to talk about today.
On September twenty-fourth , I visited The Callahan Depot, at my towns heart. I was accompanied by my brother, Bishop. During this time, we arrived at around five O'clock and left around six. We were able to go after his football game so his outfit may be a tiny bit different! Many things were learned that I didn't know myself as a resident of this small town.
While visiting and reading articles of the town, I was able to discover why exactly the railways came through our town and how our small town was created. It states on The Town of Callahan, "Time after 1911, the old original depot was destroyed by fire. The two existing lines consolidated their local facilities by adding a ground level passenger and clerk’s office to the 1880’s structure which gives us the depot we have today known as The Callahan Depot."
This is only the start, during the time of the Depot, before your modernized technology came out. Many different goods and food went over these tracks. Its crazy to think that my hometown could hold as much history as it did. So thank you to Daniel Callahan, Hint Hint, the man who helped build the railroad here in 1854. I am able to have many moments and many train stops in the town I get to call mine!

“Wow, Kaylee! I loved this! I also did one of mine on the railroad considering that our town is so small. I didn’t realize how far back the history of it went, but it is amazing to now know! Great job!”
